The STANDARD 100 certification form Oeko-Tex® implies that each textile is scientifically controlled and that during all stages of its manufacture, all requirements, such as the absence of certain harmful products which are still allowed by law, are respected. This certification also implies compliance with the European REACH regulation (relating to the management of health and environmental risks related to the use of chemical substances.)
Growing cotton consumes the most pesticides. It represents 2.5% of all cultivated land, but accounts for 16% of all insecticides used throughout the world as well as 6.8% of herbicides. This is why we choose to promote the growth of organic cotton in the development of more and more products made from this fiber.
Products made with organic cotton sold by Textiss are labeled GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards). This means that all ecological and social criteria have been respected and are controlled by an independent agency.
The GOTS organic textile standard guarantees the organic quality of textiles from the harvesting of raw materials, through socially and environmentally responsible manufacturing, to labeling in order to provide a reliable guarantee to the consumer.
Business Social Compliance Initiative
BSCI focuses on working conditions and social risks. We make every effort to ensure that the factories we work with comply with BSCI requirements.
This initiative covers the following key concepts: social responsibility policies, freedom of association, work hours and overtime hours, non-discrimination, prohibition of child labor and forced labor, special protections for young workers, minimum wage requirements, measures for ensuring health and safety in the workplace, environmental protection, and the elimination of precarious employment.
The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) label guarantees that the wood used in the making of cardboard comes from forests that are managed responsibly.
Polyester is a synthetic fiber widely used in the textile industry and made from plastic. In order to reduce the amount of resources needed to manufacture polyester (energy, oil, etc.), we develop products made from recycled polyester. This polyester comes from plastics already used.
The recycled polyester used for Textiss products is GRS certified (Global Recycled Standard), which means that the fabric has well been recycled.
GRS certified recycled fabric plants must respect sustainable development requirements based on social and environmental criteria. Each year, these plants must submit to a control carried out by an independent organization to be able to extend the certification for the next year
